Got some pretty sweet news in my inbox today :) A few of my photos finished in the top 3.5% of the Shoot and Share 2016 Photo Contest! Yay!!! I have to wait until the end of the week to see which of my images made the cut but until then, I'm thrilled to be a finalist! There was 225,000 images submitted to the contest from all over the world.

Horses have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. So when my momma asked if I could take some photos of them with their horses, I was all for it! Mom said she had never had a photo taken with her and her horse that she really loved. That made me sad and set the bar really high!

Once again I got to travel back to Elgin, NB to photograph a family session. It has got to be one of the most beautiful spots in NB. Late in the fall, the maple trees hang low on each side of the road forming a gorgeous archway of fall foliage to drive through! I love this place. This day, after I drove through the archway of maple trees, I pulled into the Stile's farm. This is what our afternoon looked like:

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived for this lifestyle family session in Elgin, NB. I had been there before (It's my favorite place to drive around aimlessly!) but I wasn't so sure about how early the sun disappeared behind the mountain in the evening. I was actually very nervous; I know that mom was excited for the family session and I didn't want to disappoint her.

When I first spoke with this gorgeous momma, I told her about my desire to do a documentary newborn session. I told her all of the details that are so important at this stage and how I felt like the majority of it swirls into a blur or days, diapers, tears and spilled milk. The moments spend rocking, nursing, snuggling a new baby soon disappear and I don't know about you but the older my kids get, the less I remember unless I have something to help me trigger the memory.

Baby Beckett is here! He kept everyone waiting for quite a while. His Nanny and Uncle flew home from Alberta to be here for his birth but he was just too shy and wanted to stay tucked inside! So, flights were changed and the family waited! He finally did decide to come out and meet his family before they had to go back out west.
